Your first comic, step by step

Type one line. Komiks writes the story, then you draw it — Story, Cast, Pages, Cover, Publish.

Before the studio

You type your idea — one sentence is enough — and Komiks shows you what it plans to make: a format and an art style, both already chosen. The format is picked to be one your credit balance can finish, so a new account is not started on a 22-page issue it cannot pay to draw. Change either, or change nothing.

Press Make it and the story is written in front of you: the title, the logline, where it is set, the cast, and one line per page. All of that is text, so it is free. The cover is drawn while you read it — that is the only thing this step spends, and it is 2 credits.

Then the studio, already full

You arrive with the story written, the cast named and the cover done. Nothing is empty, and a bar across the top always shows the single next thing worth doing.

1. Story

Read what was written from your idea. Change the title, the logline, where it is set, or any page's beat. Editing costs nothing — only drawing does.

2. Cast

Describe each character once and lock them. A locked character carries a model sheet into every panel that includes them. Without one, faces drift from panel to panel — this is the single biggest difference between a comic that looks made and one that looks generated.

3. Pages

Say what happens on the page. Komiks scripts it into panels — shots, framing, dialogue — and then draws them. Panels appear one at a time as they finish rather than all at the end.

4. Cover

Generate covers and choose one. The cover is drawn separately from the interior pages, because it is the only thing a reader sees before deciding to read.

5. Publish

Put the issue on your public page, or export a CBZ or print-ready PDF. Both are free on every plan.
